This Flax Table Runner looks great against many surfaces, including wooden tables. 

Measuring approximately 1500mm x 300mm (127" x 12"), it runs the length of a 6 person rectangular table.  If you need one for a shorter table, you could cut a piece off and stitch the ends in place (I'd stitch it just before the point I wanted it to end, then cut).

Great for along a coffee table too, or inside a cabinet.
